Centenary Club Challenge Day at Hadley Wood

Centenary Club Challenge Day at Hadley Wood

To celebrate 100 years of County Golf, Hertfordshire Golf organised a special Centenary playing of our Club Officials Challenge event on Wednesday 6 September, with the day organised at Hadley Wood GC.

Over 40 of our affiliated Clubs were represented on the day on which a total of 84 competitors took part.  The current Indian summer weather continues and temperatures reached 30 degrees on the day, pretty much unheard of for September in the UK.  The picturesque North London course was presented beautifully and with its heavily undulating greens provided a fitting challenge for the competitors on the day.

The winning score on the day in the fourball better ball format played off 85% of Course Handicaps was 44 points, returned by the Hadley Wood Artisan pair of Chris Rose & Terry Calcutt, who edged out the Mill Green pair of Steve & Debbie Barnes with a better back 9 of 22 points against 19. In 3rd position was another home pair, this time from the main club of Vice Captain,  Rob Whipple, and Immediate Past Ladies Captain, Simmi Ciccone, with 43 points. Spot prizes were won by Brickendon Grange Club Captai,n Steve Dawson, with nearest the pin on the 7th and Rickmansworth’s Mick Rogers with nearest the pin on the 17th.

The catering and hospitality from Hadley Wood on the day was as always first class and many of the competitors commented on how much they had enjoyed their day.

We look forward to another successful 100 years of County Golf in Hertfordshire.
