MEN'S SENIORS TEAM PICTURED AT BEACONSFIELD GC, FROM L TO R, JASON COURT, GORDON STEWART, TYE CARTER, PHIL EMBLETON, MIKE READY, DAVID LANG, JOHN AMBRIDGE, RUSSELL CONWAY-LYE, SIMON KAY (CAPTAIN) & LEWIS WATCHAM
Report from Men's Seniors Captain Simon Kay;
The Senior Men's County team played its third league match at Beaconsfield on a dry day last week. With 2 matches to play we remain top of the League with 2 wins guaranteeing top spot.
BB&O with home advantage are always one of our toughest opponents and with it being their Captain’s last game, there was clearly a desire to give him a final win.
The early sense from the opening holes was that we had a battle on our hands. Unfortunately early losses put us in a tough position, although to be fair the manner of those losses had an element of luck for the home team aligned with Lewis Watcham’s opponent being 7 under par from the 12th hole.
Wins however followed for David Lang, Mike Ready, Tye Carter and Simon Kay, but sadly this wasn’t enough and we lost the match 6-4.
Our first loss in the League for 3 years but with one home game remaining, against a rejuvenated Bedfordshire, the League outcome is still in our hands.
