Eddie Wade of Harpenden Common overcame a strong field and windy weather at Dyrham Park Golf and Country Club to claim the Boys Under 14 County Championship title on Friday 21st August. The wind was enough to blow over the loud speakers numerous times and really tested our junior golfers. We did however get away with avoiding any rain which loomed nearby.
It seems the weather did not deter our field of 45 players and with some great scores all round, it was Eddie who shot an excellent round of 75 gross to take the championship by 2 shots from George Abbott of Knebworth GC. Winning the championship overall nett with a 65 was Austin Cook of East Herts GC.
In the u14 Lee Duncan Trophy, it was Patrick Donovan of Essendon CC with a gross score of 81 and Ben Lim of Verulam GC winning the nett on 67.
In the u13 Tony Pohlman Trophy it was Louis Bloxham of Welwyn Garden City GC with a gross score of 83 and Dylan Brockhurst of Chesfield Downs GC winning the nett on 65.
In the u12 Knight and Day Trophy it was George Abbott from Knebworth GC with a gross score of 77 and Jaego Gardiner of Porters Park GC winning the nett on 68.
The CSS on the day was 70.
Our thanks to Dyrham Park for hosting the event in these trying and difficult current circumstances and congratulations to all the competitors who faced the challenge of the windy weather.
