It was an early start for players from around the East Region Counties as they made their way to Hadley Wood Golf Club in Hertfordshire to play in the East Region Ladies Championships. With weather warnings been communicated to all, it was a very short first round as play was suspended only 10 minutes after the first tee time. After seeing the worst of the weather arrive, it was decided to cancel the first round and see how the weather behaved to let round two get underway. Some snooker was played by the players while waiting for further communications from the Championship team.
At 10:30am it was positive communications as round two would get underway at 11:00am and there would be a three tee start to get everyone out and back in before the next weather interruption. A great decision in the end as all players made it round, even the sunshine came out eventually.
With the green staff working tirelessly on the course ahead of play to make sure each green was playable and the staff of the club catering to the needs of the changes, players were looked after each step of the way. A huge thank you to the club and everyone involved for making sure that play still managed to happen and some brilliant results in the end.
In the Nett results it was Emmanuelle Hewson (Mid Herts GC) in third, Danielle Storten-Sey (Letchworth GC) in second and Kelly Hutcherson (Welwyn Garden City GC) winning with a great score of 73.
In the Gross results it was Ye Hee Lee (Moor Park GC) in third, Abbie Symonds (Ipswich GC) in second and winning the East Region Ladies Championships 2019 is Alice Barlow (Bury St Edmunds GC) with an excellent score of 73 pipping Nett winner Kelly on the back nine holes.
