Boys U18's win away in Essex

BOYS U18 TEAM PICTURED AT LANGDON HILLS, ESSEX - FROM L TO R - GEORGE DURKAN, SAM CANEY, JACK BIGHAM, TONY POHLMAN (MANAGER), GEORGE WRIGHT, REIS SUART, DOMINIC CLEMONS, MATTHEW GAUNTLETT & OLIVER BRUNT

Congratulation and thanks to Stephen and Ruth Golding from Essex for being great hosts to the Hertfordshire and Middlesex U18’s teams at Langdon Hill Golf Club on Sunday May 12th.

The course was in good condition and the post-match meal was excellent and the weather was cool but sunny. The Hertfordshire team was supported by the Hertfordshire County President Hugh Wikner, whose busy day included a church service and entertaining family in the morning and then rushing to Langdon Hill to cheer the lads on.

The match was much tighter than the results indicate, at the half way point the matches could have gone any way, but the Hertfordshire Boys prevailed in the end gaining victory over Essex 5 ½ to 2 ½ points and Middlesex 6 to 2 points, but some of the team members had to battle to the eighteenth green.

Young Reis Suart won both his matches but not content with that he had a hole in one on the 173 yard par three fifth hole.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the Middlesex boys team coach Charles Sandison-Wood, formally a Hertfordshire County Coach while working at Hadley Wood GC before moving to pastures new.
