Report by County Senior Womens Manager Lindsay Murray-Gray;
In the final match of the season Herts Senior Women welcomed Oxfordshire to their base at East Herts. The weather forecast all week had been pretty brutal but the golfing gods were kind and it stayed dry for the duration of the match. It did however blow a really hoolie which made shot selection challenging. Local knowledge was definitely advantage in these conditions and the work that was done at the start of the season regarding where the good misses were to be found proved invaluable.
Our latest team debutant Alison Franklin had a baptism of fire as she came up against their number one player who was fresh from winning the Oxon County champs last weekend so her confidence levels were through the roof. Alison enjoyed the match and is looking forward to extracting revenge next year.
Fortunately, the majority of the team behind her were able to secure some wins so Herts prevailed overall to win 5 – 2.
The result of the fixture, regardless of who won, was largely irrelevant as Berkshire, having had a tremendous season, could not be caught. Congratulations to them and all of the other teams played this year, it was another great season.
Here’s to 2025!
