Women on Par is in short, a tried and tested 9 hole event played on Par 3 courses around the County. It features a novel scoring system, using a challenge scorecard, to help beginners learn the basic rules and etiquette of the game. Instead of counting shots, the scorecard outlines challenges for players to undertake, for example hitting the green or getting out of the bunker in one.
There are two levels of challenge scorecard, so events can cater for beginners and those who have played a little.
Women on Par helps new golfers develop as players. It’s also great fun and a good way to get newcomers involved with the club and its social life.

Working with the local Stroke Association and Parkinsons Organisations, we run weekly sessions at Chesfield Downs Golf Club for those who have survived a stroke or have been diagnosed with Parkinsons. In 2020 we were awarded an Awards For All community grant which will go a long way to encouraging and seeing people enjoy the sport.
All who have taken part in these sessions have had a positive change to their lives including being active regularly and taking part in a sport that some of them thought they would never get back into. The sessions are heavily subsidised by the county and the grant which means cost to participants is minimal.
If you are interested in being a part of this amazing opportunity or want to be involved in supporting the sessions as a volunteer or with funding, please contact:
County Development Officer Esther Strous on cdo@hertfordshiregolf.org or 07496 653 056.
